Another crook, Ken Paxton Indicted
WFAA reports that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has been indicted.
McKINNEY — A grand jury has indicted Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on multiple felony charges, according to several sources who are familiar with the complaints.
The charges will be unsealed in McKinney on Monday about noon, and a Tarrant County judge has already been appointed to preside over the case, sources told News 8.
After the indictments are unsealed, Paxton can surrender to be photographed, fingerprinted and booked at any of the state’s 254 county jails.
It’s unclear exactly what Paxton will be indicted for, although a grand jury here has heard evidence that Paxton, 52, violated securities laws.
The Texas Tribune reports the following.
Paxton faces three charges in indictments that were issued Tuesday and instantly sealed, according to NBC 5. The charges will be revealed Monday in McKinney, and a Tarrant County judge has already been tapped to oversee the case, WFAA reported.
Kent Schaffer, one of two special prosecutors who took the Paxton case to the grand jury, told The New York Times that the indictments include three felony counts — two alleging first-degree securities fraud and another alleging a third-degree charge that he failed to register as a securities agent.
Texas Democratic Party Deputy Executive Director Manny Garcia issued the following statement:
“While we await further information, one thing is abundantly clear: Republican Ken Paxton couldn’t get away from the Texas Rangers. No politician is above the law.
Ken Paxton has already admitted to unlawful actions related to his felony indictments. Now, a Collin County grand jury has charged him.
It is time for Paxton to face the consequences.
This is yet another example of the corrupt culture that fester with one-party, unchecked Republican power.”
It was not long ago that Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) was indicted as well.
