Any Jon Stewart payback is always devastating
A few days ago it was revealed that Jon Stewart visited the White House and spent some time in private meetings with President Obama. This caused the Right to hyperventilate. Among many names being called, he was referred to as a tool of the Obama administration.
Jon Stewart first played a Fox News clip where pundit after pundit including Howard Kurtz eviscerated Stewart for having had private meetings with the President. They called him a tool and a propagandist.
Stewart seemed concerned. “They didn’t seem to support their assertions with evidence,” Jon Stewart said. “You like to nail me as a propagandist. You could have just shown a clip of me shamelessly pimping for some signature policy like Obamacare.”
Jon Stewart then showed how wrong Fox News was. How could he have been a shill, tool, or propagandist when he was so critical of the flawed Obamacare launch including embarrassing former Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius live on air.
Jon Stewart then played clips with a multitude of Fox News personalities, specifically they were commenting on Jon Stewart skewering Sebellius, the President, Nancy Peloci, and others. “If he’s lost Jon Stewart,” Sheppard Smith said. “I’m just saying.”
Stewart then showed the real culprit of manipulation. He showed Republican operative Frank Luntz teaching on air personalities how to mislead their audience. Jon Stewart then flipped the script. He showed a Howard Kurts then working for CNN being critical of his new network, Fox News.
“I am just playing around with you guys,” Jon Stewart said. “Your hypocrisy isn’t just a bug in the Fox model. It’s the feature. Your job is to discredit any source of criticism that might hurt the Conservative brand — by angrily holding them to standards you yourself jettisoned in your news network mission statement.
