And the real illegal immigrant is?
Donald Trump is attempting to make the undocumented immigrant his cause célèbre. He is doing this basically because the GOP does not have a positive middle-class centric platform to run on. I explained this truth in this post. Moreover I explained that left unabated, Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant hate speech can actually be effective.
I find it refreshing that many are now spending the time to remind all Americans at large that we should get off of our high horses. After-all, as Cenk Uygur explains the real illegal immigrants that commit the heinous acts Donald Trump speaks about did not originate south of the Rio Grande but across a much larger body of water, the Atlantic.
I covered the topic in my Politics Done Right radio show yesterday. It was a wild show with many callers having many points of view. It ended on a positive note as many were able to hear much of what is ignored by the traditional mainstream media.

Julie pointed out that the body of water the current crop of undocumented workers crosses for better opportunities is much narrower than the body of water those wanting them out crossed. I reminded the audience that they should consider reading the Guadalupe-Hidalgo treaty to give them a bit of history of how Americans actually did not hold up their end of the bargain. The media give the uneducated demagogues a platform to promote their ill-informed bile. Luckily many undocumented workers are in fact asserting their space as did this young lady I interviewed in Phoeniz Arizona.
To be clear, I understand that there must be some control on our borders to maintain some sort of order. That said given our history our immigration policy should be as lenient and sustainable as possible. It is the only way we can atone for our part in the suffering of the original inhabitants of this land.
