Will GOP nominee Donald Trump be the culmination of the intolerance and prejudice tolerated Republican establishment
This is not an accident. Donald Trump and many in the GOP who may not necessarily be prejudice, racist, or intolerant. However they have used the carnal fear many have of the other in an attempt to win. Over the years they have not responded to well crafted conspiracy theories, lies, and misinformation. These have metastasized in the psyche of many in their party.
A Donald Trump supporter continued the myth that President Obama is a Muslim and not an American. He claimed that Muslims is the American problem. What was Donald Trump’s response? It was silence on the issue. The Huffington Post reported the following.
Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) took to Twitter after Trump nodded along and mumbled “right” to an event attendee who made erroneous comments about the president’s religious affiliation and citizenship.
“We have a problem in this country. It’s called Muslims,” the questioner said. “You know our current president is one. You know he’s not even an American.”
Trump interrupted the question, chuckling, and said, “We need this question. This is the first question.”
The insanity that we are seeing in Republican debates, Republican town halls, and on the stump will continue until some bold Republicans of stature decide to do the moral thing. What’s the moral thing? Speak up loudly and frequently. Tell the truth. Atone for the passed bad deeds. Will someone bring back some sanity?
