Only you can make government reflect the real progressive America

October 8, 2015 By Egberto Willies

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

Progressive Liberal America

America is a progressive country. America is a Liberal country. Those are bold statements. However, based on the definitions of our value set, it is a fact.

We know American support Medicare, Social Security, and many programs that can only be considered progressive. So, America irrespective of what anyone implies, has always been economically progressive. The Gallup Poll in May 2015, showed a dramatic shift left on social issues. The table below shows the dramatic change that occurred over the last 14 years.

Americans make strong Liberal / Progressive

One would never know that the country has made the complete progressive tilt if one examines our government. Whether it is state government or federal government, Conservatives are over represented and Liberals are under represented. In other words our government leaders do not represent us.

Republicans complain that their government does not represent them. Democrats complain that their government does not represent them. Every particular group, party, or entity sans corporate interests believe government does not represent them.

The question is why. The answer is actually very simple. We the people have allowed ourselves to be marketed to. We the people have allowed a perceived change though non-existent in our values. We the people have acquiesced to a new master.

America was built on the slavery of one group, the indentured servitude of another, the virtual extermination of another, and a systemic manipulation of the psyche of another. In other words the vast majority of Americans irrespective of demographics, have been but pawns to a few. The calculated systemic promotion of division among people is the tool used for that few to continue their less than noble deeds, their greed, their selfishness.

That can only last as long as we allow it. The Powell Manifesto has successfully done its job. The think tanks whose papers permeate our society with misinformation that many consider authoritative is still doing the dirty work necessary to have us vote and act against our own economic interest and societal well-being.

So how do we ensure that our government and economic system reflect us all? How do we ensure that we get the progressive government everybody wants even if they do not define it that way? We educate each other away from the industrial programming of our minds from the plutocracy. We invest in real structures that promote ‘we the people’ instead of simply structures that favor the few.

There are many groups throughout the country that need support from the public at large to support the public at large. Be mindful to ensure their survival. Support them as they will help inform America in an unbiased form, providing options available to make a better America for us all. Only you can make government reflect the real progressive America.
