Bernie Sanders on Bill Maher

Bernie Sanders appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher and went toe to toe in defending his policies while Maher obsessed on the Democratic Socialism moniker. He refused to allow Bill Maher to redefine his policies as problematic if even amusingly.

Bernie Sanders explained that all the programs he is running on are paid for. He will pay for free tuition at public universities with a tax on Wall Street speculation. He will pay for increased Social Security by removing the irresponsible cap on income. Single payer healthcare, Medicare for all, pays for itself and that is proven throughout the industrialized world.

Bill Maher suggested that there are states that Sanders did not have a chance of winning. Bernie Sanders did not accept that premise.  He thinks his revolution will be attractive to many working class Republicans. The youth are already very much onboard.

Sanders did a very good job in defining what he stands for. Bill Maher’s point does however have some merit. Bernie Sanders and his supporters must engage in an information and educational crusade. They must plant within the psyche of Americans that the policies they yearn for is what Sanders is running on if he is to inoculate himself from the red scare the Republicans would ultimately unleash. Call it what you will.
