Neocons would have had us in a real war by now
It is not an overstatement to say that had Donald Trump, Ben Carson, or any other current GOP candidate been in power, we would be at war. “I think it is a very good thing we have the person in the White House that we do,” Charles Pierce said. “rather than some of the other voices we just heard in that segment.” Pierce, an American sportswriter, political blogger, and author was speaking about the crop of GOP candidates and neocons pushing war.
Charles Pierce pointed out that Vladimir Putin, the GOP’s recent man crush, appears as ‘feckless’ as President Obama in the face of having one of his warplanes shot down. The reason of course is that the region has a complex dynamic with many degrees of freedom that if not navigated carefully and intelligently could devolve into a major war or even a world war. Remember, Turkey is a NATO country and the U.S. and all European members of NATO are responsible by treaty to defend any member nation attacked.
Pierce reminds us that there were other Presidents like President Obama whose levelheadedness saved the country from the recklessness of the everlasting neocons. President Kennedy was being advised by many neocons who wanted direct military intervention in Cuba, especially when a United States warplane was shot down. Had Kennedy listened to the drumbeat from the neocons, the generals, and the military industrial complex, the world as we know it would have ended.
The responsibility for the destruction of much of the world gave both the then Soviet Union’s Nikita Khrushchev and President Kennedy pause. They disregarded the neocons and saved the world from disaster. President Obama as well must disregard the warmongering neocons, the defense industrial complex, and clown cart of reckless GOP candidates.
