Donald Trump spokesperson: ‘So what. They are Muslim’ (VIDEO)

Donald Trump has made Muslim bigotry vogue

The Muslim bigotry inspired and ignited by the Trump campaign is palpable. It is now vogue to say things once only said in private by some. This is becoming dangerous because it makes the mistreatment of a group of fellow Americans ‘normal.’

Donald Trump National Spokesperson Katrina Pierson, and Political Commentator S.E. Cupp appeared on The Lead with Jake Tapper. Pierson attempted to defend Donald Trump’s position with the constitution.

“There is no constitutional requirement to allow anyone to emigrate to the United States,” Katrina Pierson said. “There’s already U.S. laws on the books giving Congress the authority to ban immigration from nations that are hostile towards America. So this is really nothing new. And Mr. Trump doesn’t really care what ISIL thinks or ISIL wants. All he cares about is the American public.”

S.E. Cupp disagreed. She said there is something new and illegal about banning an entire religious group. Pierson pointed out that the United States has done that before (Japanese internment & German internment?). Of course that does not make it right, however Trump’s spokesperson has no problem referring to it.

S.E. Cupp went on to point out that no Congress would never go along with Trump. In effect she is banking on a more moral majority. That is not necessarily true. There is a chance that if many little Muslim effected massacres, however small in the context of this huge nation, start occurring, we will become a de facto fascist state with the likes of Donald Trump virtually leading by decree. We must not take Donald Trump’s bigotry lightly lest it metastasizes throughout large swaths of the nation.

Near the end of the clip something sad and astounding occurred. When S.E. Cupp pointed out that Trump’s policy would deny regular Muslims into the country, Katrina Pierson nonchalantly said, “So what. They are Muslim.” In pre-Trump times that comment would have raised eyebrows, an apology demanded, and she would be banned or suspended from the network.
