Rachel Maddow calls out GOP debate lies & ignorance with examples (VIDEO)

December 16, 2015 By Egberto Willies

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

Rachel Maddow debunks GOP lies and misinformation

This was a Rachel Maddow classic and necessary take down of a few lies in the Republican debate. Maddow plays the lying snippets from the debate and debunks them with a Fox News report and other footage. CNN failed to call out obvious lies in real time.

Rachel Maddow points out that Russia has been a Syrian ally since 1971. They established the naval base, Tartus,  in 1971 when Russia was a part of the Soviet Union. They also operated it after the collapse of the Soviet Union to present day.

“Wolff I will tell you what reckless is,” Chris Christie said. “What reckless is, is calling Assad a reformer. What reckless is, is allowing Russia to come into Crimea and Ukraine. What reckless is, is inviting Russia into Syria.”

Rachel response was epic. “Gosh darn you Barack Obama for traveling back in time and inviting Russia into Syria,” Maddow said. “To be clear, Russia, already in Syria.”

Maddow then played the clip where Carly Fiorina said that President Obama got rid of General David Petraeus, General Stanley McChrystal, General James Mattis, General Jack Keane, and General Michael Flynn because they told him things he did not want to hear. Rachel pointed out that Petraeus actually left the army to become head of the CIA and subsequently got into trouble  for having an extramarital affair and giving classified information to his mistress.

McChrystal was forced to resigned after an unflattering article appeared in Rolling Stone magazine. Maddow used Fox News to refute Fiorina on General Keane. When asked on Fox News if President Obama forced him out, Keane revealed he worked for Bush and not President Obama.

Maddow illustrated Chris Christie’s ignorance when he referred to King Hussein as the King of Jordan instead of King Abdullah. What was in fact frightening is that Donald Trump did not know what the nuclear triad is. This is the man that would have his finger on the button.

These candidates continue to malign President Obama. They continue to claim he is incompetent or does not know what is going on. Yet with all the prep one would expect them to do for these debates, they show an ignorance of international policy, military policy, and domestic policy that disqualifies them all from the presidency.
