Right Wing Militia members take over federal building – treated with kit gloves
Right Wing Militia members illegally took over a federal building in Oregon. Where is the 24/7 news coverage? Where is the National Guard?
The Hammond case was used as a pretext for Right Wing militia groups to descend on Burn, Oregon. Dwight L. Hammond and his son Steven D. Hammond were convicted of arson on federal lands.
After a protest several militia men illegally occupied a federal building.
The occupation: Some time after the rally, key militia leaders broke off and drove across the high desert basin south of Burns to the wildlife refuge. They said they took over the refuge headquarters, which was unoccupied for the holiday weekend. They also have blocked the access road. Indications are that this has been planned for some time. Accounts of how many militia are at the refuge range from their own claims of up to 150 to accounts from reporters at the scene that there may be no more than 15.
So far the there has been no substantive response from law enforcement. The reporting by the mainstream media has been at best biased.
Is there any doubt that this type of disregard for the law would have been met immediately with a strong police action had the perpetrators been Muslim, Black, or Latinos? It is not necessary to really guess. Ferguson and Baltimore are probative. Even the New York Times is hesitant in calling out these militants for what they are.
