CNN Jake Tapper challenged GOP spin on Obama executive order on guns - This is journalism.

Jake Tapper gave a solid interview

This week the President presented the country with executive orders that attempted to mitigate some of the gun violence in the country. NRA owned, mostly Republican politicians have been attempting to scare Americans as they lied about the real intent of the President.

GOP Majority Whip Steve Scalise did not disappoint. CNN’s Jake Tapper interviewed Scalise recently. When asked what was wrong with background checks, Scalise attempted to change the subject by stating the President is trying to redefine who is a gun dealer. Scalise tried to imply that the President was attempting to interfere with gun transfers between family and friends.

Scalise then began his spinning. He accused the President of changing the subject to get away from the ‘ISIS problem’ in the country. Jake Tapper did not allow him to get away with that accusation.

“Well many more Americans die every year even if you remove suicide from the equation from gun violence than have been killed by terrorists,” Jake Tapper said. “That’s not even a question.”

Tapper then reiterated the reality of what the President is actually doing. In other words those who are selling guns for a profit, as a business must be licensed. Period. As such, Scalise accusations were baseless.

Scalise in a tone-deaf fashion continued to spin. He then morphed his attack by accusing the President of usurping the role of Congress. Jake Tapper did not bite. He asked Scalise again what was wrong with background checks to prevent guns from getting into the hands of those who should not have guns. Scalise continued on an incoherent diatribe devoid of any fact based information. Tapper had already done his job. The Congressman came across like a cry baby who did not get his way. That is what good journalism does.

This is unlike Anderson Cooper’s shameful attempt of appeasing conspiracy theorists during the Presidents town hall on gun violence on CNN. The President summarily dispatched his idiocy.
