Michael Tomasky smug dismissal of Bernie Sanders’ 2016 election candidacy
The disrespect from both the political establishment and the mainstream media establishment against Bernie Sanders continue. An Iowa win may give them fear.
After watching the interview it was hard to be contained. Michael Tomasky with a smug tone simply disrespectfully dismissed Bernie Sanders 2016 election candidacy. He was addressing a President Obama interview where he implied that Bernie Sanders’ policies were not yet vetted.
“There is truth to what Obama said there,” Tomasky said. “The reason that Sanders hasn’t been subjected to that rigor yet is that I don’t know a journalist quite frankly who thinks he is going to be the nominee. … But generally speaking, people think that his candidacy is gonna win one or two races and then fade out and she [Hillary Clinton] is going to be the nominee. So for that reason he is not being subjected to the scrutiny that a quote unquote more serious candidate would be subjected to.”
Tomasky must be living in his own world. Anyone with internet access or an email id being bombarded with negative stories and propaganda about Bernie Sanders. Of course the most impactful being that “HE IS A SOCIALIST,” a democratic socialist please. Everyone in America now knows that fact.
Chris Hayes pointed out that if journalists were polled six to nine months ago very few would believe the race would be where it is now where Bernie Sanders is a serious contender. Tomasky had to concede that someone attracting the number of people Sanders is attracting is connecting with people in a big way. He then goes into creating a new narrative
What does the mainstream media do to salvage their fledgling credibility? They move the pole. To be somewhat viable, Bernie Sanders must now win both Iowa and New Hampshire.
