Tamron Hall and her panel see’s the irony in CBC PAC endorsement

Americans were led to believe that the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) was endorsing Hillary Clinton. Rep. Keith Ellison, a member of the CBC and a Bernie Sanders supporter unequivocally cleared up any misconceptions. It was the CBC PAC and not the CBC that endorsed her.

The CBC PAC made the announcement during Tamron Hall’s show. Hall’s reaction was immediate.

“But you are looking at a certain age group, one woman speaking so far,” said Tamron Hall. “I don’t think Hillary Clinton should take any block for granted. But that’s not the block where she is struggling. Maybe have a younger black voice. Or someone who has been out there. And Hillary Clinton be there herself.”

Later on Hall referenced a story in The Nation by Michelle Alexander titled “Why Hillary Clinton Doesn’t Deserve the Black Vote.”

What have the Clintons done to earn such devotion? Did they take extreme political risks to defend the rights of African Americans? Did they courageously stand up to right-wing demagoguery about black communities? Did they help usher in a new era of hope and prosperity for neighborhoods devastated by deindustrialization, globalization, and the disappearance of work?

No. Quite the opposite. …

In her support for the 1994 crime bill, for example, she used racially coded rhetoric to cast black children as animals. “They are not just gangs of kids anymore,” she said.

Joan Walsh pointed out that Bernie Sanders and half of the CBC voted for the bill as crime was rampant. Ultimately former RNC chair Michael Steele had the best comment.

Can we just for once actually have a real competition for the black vote — Instead of just given it wholesale? I am not taking as a Republican. I am not talking as a Conservative. I am talking as a black American. What’s your agenda going to be.

Tamron Hall asked if Steele’s disgust went towards his party as well. He said it did.
