Trevor Noah hits the nail on the head
Trevor Noah uses sound bites from Right Wing Republicans and Establishment Republicans to prove Donald Trump is a reflection of them all. Noah starts the skit with both Right Wing Republicans and rank and file Republicans excoriating Donald Trump. They said he does not Represent the party.
It turns out that every utterance made by Donald Trump can be traced back to recent statements from Establishment Republicans and Tea Party Republicans alike. Even Republicans considered to be fairly moderate like John McCain is seen on the border talking about building the fence. He did not sound any different than Donald Trump. He was placating the Republican base that was made anti-immigrant by their new leaders. One must remember both Papa Bush and Ronald Reagan were very pro-immigrant and supported legalization. They were both compassionate. Listen to how both Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush responded to a question about undocumented immigrants.
Bush spoke about handling labor needs and human needs honestly. He also stated that reality and practicality dictated that the kids be allowed to attend school. After-all one does not want uneducated kids. His passionate response also illustrated a care and a humanity that the party now lacks.
Ronald Reagan went even further. He acknowledged that America has served as a pressure valve. It likely prevented the Mexican government from imploding because of some of their unemployment problems. Reagan rejected any thoughts of building a wall. He also spoke of a sort of regulated open border.
From their responses to Muslims to their lies about President Obama, to their talking down of the United States economy, and its military prowess, Donald Trump was just mirroring and echoing Republicans perfectly. He became the encapsulation of everything they are in one body.
