D.L. Hughley makes an observation those who try to look the other way on Trump’s prejudice ignore.
D.L. Hughley speaks the truth about GOP leaders still supporting Trump
D.L. Hughley uses his comedy like Jon Stewart does to shame our political deficiencies. Here he calls out Speaker Paul Ryan for being ‘a little pregnant.’
Hughley points out something that the mainstream media has not focused on in the least. It is shameful that Republican leaders supporting Donald Trump have been given the ‘being a little pregnant pass’ again and again. Hughley responded before Joy-Ann Reid’s even completed her question about Donald Trump.
“Donald Trump is a racist,” Hughley said. “He is a racist and anybody who — listen, Paul Ryan basically said, that is textbook racism. So what Paul Ryan is actually saying is that a racist is better than a Liberal. And if you say that, it’s because you are not affected by racism. Everything we are. You can obfuscate. You can do whatever. Liberals built this country. You are what you are because of Liberals. And I was on with Joe Scarborough, who I adore. I don’t agree with everything he says. He brags about this being the party of Lincoln. When you gotta go keep referencing the dude on the penny, you better update your resume.”
D.L. reminded the listeners that Martin Luther King and Muhammed Ali were only loved when they were no longer threats. The following statement he made was prescient.
“You don’t get to be a little racist,” Hughley said. “You don’t get to be a little pregnant. I am in a car. I commit a crime. The dude in the car pretends like he doesn’t know. That ain’t gonna work. You are a co-conspirator. And if you know that he is a racist, you are a co-racist. It’s simple as that. ”
And that is the point. You cannot give your vote to someone like Donald Trump and disassociate yourself from the total scourge he represents.
