Many Americans scoff at those who continuously complain about police bias. In the midst of the Dallas shooting will this black surgeon’s words enlighten?
Emergency room doctors along with some police officers gave a press conference in Dallas that was very poignant. Everyone in the chamber was given kudos to the police. The news conference took a turn when the black surgeon began to speak. He talked about being distressed. The doctor said that he attempts to placate police officers all of the times. He takes up their tabs. He buys them ice cream. But he still fears them.
America will get through our current angst when we start empathizing with others; when we start looking through the eyes of our fellow citizens. We must refrain from the comfort of tunnel vision. Only then will we be successful in breaking out of our current racial strife.
