Paul Manafort resigns
Paul Manafort, Donald Trump’s campaign chairman resigned today. Trump released the following statement.
“This morning Paul Manafort offered and I accepted, his resignation from the campaign. I am very appreciative for his great work in helping to get us where we are today, and in particular his work guiding us through the delegate and convention process. Paul is a true professional and I wish him the greatest success,” Trump said.
This move should have been expected. Trump brought on Kellyanne Conway as his new campaign manager earlier this week. He also brought on Right Wing extremist and Breitbart CEO Steve Dannon as his campaign CEO.
Trump may be hoping that accepting Manafort’s resignation will remove the controversy of his work for many Russian interests.
