My message to an unenthusiastic voter who called my show

It is bewildering that some citizens will not vote because they are not enthusiastic about their candidate. I hope this response sinks in.

Voter apathy is a recipe for poor and  middle-class destruction

Politics Done Right (on Facebook) covered the topic “It is all about misogyny. Will America defeat a con or misogyny?” An unenthusiastic voter who called into the show that riled me up a bit.

Before I started taking calls, I read the blog of the week concerning the misogyny inflicted on Hillary Clinton and why the media was okay with it.

I spent several hours going through taped CNN and MSNBC, the ‘liberal’ networks, interviews of Clinton and Trump surrogates. The hosts tended to come to Donald Trump’s defense when Clinton surrogates attempted to point out Trump’s deficiencies, failures, and lies. They tended to allow and corroborate and encourage attack statements from Trump surrogates. MSNBC’s Joy-Ann Reid and Tamron Hall were the exceptions.

So why is Trump getting away with so much? Why is the media bending over backward to, as President Obama says, grade him on a curve? The answer is not that complicated. Trump is the epitome of what the current power structure still looks like in America. The media for the most part still reflects him. To acknowledge his flaws to many is self-reflective. He is the maximization of all that is wrong with a large percentage of our empowered, the reflection of racism, selfishness, false vanity, hubris, sexism, and yes, misogyny.

Poor and dishonest coverage of the election creates voter apathy and lack of enthusiasm. Worse, however, are the false equivalences they create.

The caller had a very specific question. If Trump was not the one running against Hillary Clinton, what compelling reason would be there to vote for her? I pointed out that the candidate I would support was one who would ensure the continuation of Obamacare and the appointment of good Supreme court justices. Watch/listen to the video clip and tell me what you think.
