President Obama responded to a reporter’s question about Donald Trump’s acknowledgment of his country of birth.
Media should heed President Obama’s response to the birther nonsense
President Obama responded with grace and amusement when an ABC reporter asked him about his thoughts on Donald Trump admitting that he was born in the U.S.
“Mr. President, Donald Trump is finally acknowledging that yes you were born in America,” said ABC’s Jonathan Karl. “Your reaction?”
The President smirked.
“I, Jonathan have no reaction,” Obama replied. “And I am shocked that a question like that would come up in a time when we have so many other things to do. No, I am not that shocked. It is fairly typical. We have other business to attend to. I was pretty confident about where I was born. I think most people were as well. And my hope would be that the presidential election reflects more serious issues than that.”
What is ironic is that given that President Obama’s mother was an American citizen, even if he were born in Kenya, he would still be considered a natural born citizen. A derelict media was instrumental in aiding Donald Trump and his minions give the false impression that this was a story worth chasing, a real story. Is there any doubt of the uselessness of a large portion of the mainstream media?
