Charlotte video presents conflict to shooting as described by police
Keith Scott’s wife, the man, killed by a Charlotte police officer, released the original video she took with her cell phone before, during, and after the shooting. The video sadly shows the disregard with which black people and people of color are treated by police in the aggregate.
Before the police officers broke the glass to get at Keith Scott, his wife told the police officers that Scott had a traumatic brain injury (TBI). She begged them not to shoot at her husband. She told them that he did not have a gun. Those words meant nothing to the police. The shot and killed Keith Scott anyway.
Would this happen in the average white suburban neighborhood? How many times are videos shown where police are extremely restrained when confronted by white people?
Scott was simply waiting in his truck for his young son to come home from school. Why was Keith Scott even confronted by police officers? Why was he not given the benefit of the doubt given the pleas of his wife? This is policing in black America many refuse to acknowledge.
