MSNBC Host Mika Brzezinski lost it on Morning Joe and was egged on by no other than Joe Scarborough. Will women, who make up the majority, bust the double standard?
Mika Brzezinski slams double standard against women
Mika Brzezinski went on a tear on Morning Joe where she pointed out the double standard Hillary Clinton is up against all of the time. She did not hold back including calling out Donald Trump for what he is.
Joe Scarborough asked Donna Brazile to explain the disconnect between Hillary Clinton the person and Hillary, the candidate. Donna Brazile said that her candidate was not a camera type person like others. She made it clear that if this campaign was a job interview, Hillary Clinton, the woman, is ready while Donald Trump is the guy blustering and disrupting throughout the interview. Mike breaks in.
“And the guy gets the job, Donna,” Mika Brzezinski said. “That’s what happens Donna.”
Donna Brazile responds that that is the past. She said that is old school.
“That’s the reality that women all face today,” Mika said. “Guys walk in there. They bluster. They lie. They are totally confident. I mean they seriously are very used to saying much more about themselves than what actually exists. They go on and on and on and on. They make up stuff, and then they get the job because the woman comes in, she is all prepared. Her resume is twenty-five pages long. And she thinks everybody is going to just notice her hard work.”
“I second that,” Brazile said. “I second that.”
One of the panelists asked how can Hillary, communicate effectively in the debate.
“Not like the guy at all,” Mika said. “Very very effectively. Be the counter to Donald Trump. If he is doing his Trumpy stuff, Hillary Clinton is best when she is actually owning it. It’s inside. She is communicating with, quite frankly, a calm voice. Not even like trying to be quiet. Just when she is there and owns it. There is the wonderful thing called the awkward moment. Let it ride. Don’t even look at him. She has got to take that stage and take that camera and realize this is her moment. This is the one moment. And this buffoon next to me is not what you want to vote for.”
Donna and Joe continued to egg on Mika on with approval. The reality is simple. This election is a teaching moment. It is a moment to test one’s morality. Are Americans going to tell women and men that irrespective of qualifications and bad deeds, women need not apply? Based on the facts of this election, that is the question.
