If Democrats and Hillary Clinton had followed much of what President Obama said in his Press Conference, Donald Trump would not be president and the Congress would have been won by the other side.
President Obama answers question about Democrats in Presser
President Obama's first question had to do with the direction of Democrats after their losses. He consoled and gently slapped at the same time.
The president pointed out that it is important for all candidates to directly engage their constituents. He gave the example of his win in Iowa. He said he spent an inordinate amount of time knowing and campaigning among the people. In other words, people were able to relate to him.
The President said he did not want to be heavy-handed in his advice to the Democratic Party. He believes the party should take some time to reconfigure.
Obama reminded Americans that after losing the elections in 2004, it only took two years for the Democratic Party to take over Congress and two years later the presidency. It is clear he believes that Democratic policies are better and as such it is likely Americans will not like what some bought. The President and all Democrats should remember Roosevelt's 2nd Bill of Rights. That is what they must run on, going forward.
