Donny Deutsch wanted to point out exactly what Donald Trump was doing when he met with the media privately, what it meant to strong arm them. He did not want to call it outright fascism because he was on Morning Joe, but he said the word and much more.
Donny Deutsch should say fascism
Donny Deutsch should have made the case that the tone of the private discussion between Trump and the media had undertones of fascism instead of dipping his toes. As Donny was making his case, Scarborough continued to interrupt in an attempt to blur the proper narrative. I cut out most of Scarborough’s superfluous misdirecting bloviation.
“What I read gave me a yucky feeling,” Deutsch said. “I am not going to say this is the beginning of fascism, but there is something concerning when a President-Elect or a President feels it’s okay to bring the media in the room and scold them about what they are covering. By the way, CNN made Donald Trump for the first ten months of this election. They covered his speeches beginning to end. This goes under the guise, one more thing that we normalize. I was very disturbed, concerned, our president, at least as it was reported, chastising, yelling, ‘You can’t cover me this way. Cover me this way.’ That’s just not who we are.”
Scarborough interjected that he did not think Trump was yelling. Deutsch said Trump was certainly dressing them down.
“Donald Trump created Donald Trump off the media,” Deutsch continued. “He’s played the media and he continued to do it.”
Hopefully, people will start seeing the slow creep towards fascism that Trump, a rather unstable personality, is taking us towards. We need to explain this slow creep to Americans, so they will back those that will attempt to mitigate it.
