Trevor Noah hits President-Elect Trump for his unpresidential tweeting. Most importantly he gives kudos to journalists who are pushing back against the normalization of Trump when enablers spin.
Trevor Noah gets it
Trevor Noah continued holding Trump and his team to the scrutiny that The Daily Show is known for with their comedic journalism. In the crosshairs today? Tweets and enablers.
If you are on of those people who is freaked out about Donald Trump’s tweeting, Trevor Noah said. “I understand. Because usually there is protocol to the presidency. A president will announce appointments in the Rose Garden. You console the nation from the Oval Office. But for Trump, everything is on Twitter. He tweets with the same gravity about Alec Baldwin as he does a trillion dollar trade war. And I understand for many people this is not normal. It seems like Trump is being too casual with the highest office in the land. … It’s not normal.”
Trevor continues.
“And I am not going to lie,” Noah said. “There is not much Donald Trump can do to surprise me anymore. I am not surprised. And you know people always ask me, ‘Trevor are you afraid of Donald Trump?’ I am not afraid of Donald Trump. I am afraid of the people who support Donald Trump. And I am not referring to his voters. I am speaking about the people on his team. The people who enable him. Because they know what he is doing. They know when he is doing something wrong.”
Trevor went on to praise ABC This Week’s George Stephanopoulos and Jake Tapper for pushing back on Vice President-Elect Mike Pence and Kellyanne Conway recently. This is something few journalists are doing as they are now normalizing Trump. It will be a long four years.
