After taking a civil tongue lashing from a Clinton surrogate, Chuck Todd statement about an act of war is disconcerting and should give us pause given the irrational president we elected.
Did Chuck Todd mention war
Chuck Todd shocked me with this declaration when he postulated that Russian involvement in hacking our election is tantamount to war. After a discussion where Hillary Clinton’s surrogate Anita Dunn scolded Todd and the mainstream media for neglecting the Russian hacking story way back in June, Todd had a rather inflammatory statement that should worry us all.
“How is this not an act of war if we prove it,” Chuck Todd asked the panel discussing the possibility of Russia hacking our elections. “I mean, I am sorry. It’s like when another country is trying to dictate the American presidential election; that’s a version of, that’s so subversive. That’s level stuff.”
One knows we are in the weeds when Michael Steele is making sense.
“But I think, I think,” Steele responded. “What makes this not reach that level is the fact that it’s cyber.”
And maybe because our government does the same thing all over the world. You fight cyber with cyber. There are ways to make elections tamper proof if we want to but it is clear that is not what we want given our antiquated system with little audit trails.
Chuck’s statement did not seem like some slip of the tongue. The media has already normalized Donald Trump. We have a serial misogynist racist con man as President, and we are already giving him the reverence for winning the electoral college. Now with this type of statement, Chuck Todd is normalizing war, just like the New York times did during the lead up to the Iraq War. He is providing plausibility that our military industrial complex would be ready to grab.
