HuffPost Journalist blames Obama for ‘The Destruction of the Democratic Party’ (VIDEO)

December 28, 2016 By Egberto Willies

I knew it would not be long before the derelict media started assigning blame to President Obama for the decimation of the Democratic Party throughout the country. There are various reasons why assigning blame to Obama is more than shortsighted.

The Destruction of the Democratic Party caused by Obama?

HuffPost Journalist Sam Stein made a rather foolish statement on Morning Joe as he implied that Obama is responsible for the decimation of the Democratic Party.

Morning Joe’s Willie Geist asked HuffPost’s Sam Stein to comment about President Obama’s statement about Democrat’s loss not being about his legacy or policies but the candidate.

“Yeah, I mean this was as much a dig against Clinton as it was Trump from President Obama,” Sam Stein said. “And you know, to a certain extent you have to say okay, the Democrats may be overanalyzing their losses a tiny bit. Because they did end up with 2.8 million more votes for their candidate. It was eighty thousand votes in three states that really cost her. Then, on the other hand, you look at the destruction of the Democratic Party under Barack Obama’s leadership, and you have to wonder, you know, what was the political, what were the electoral benefits that he gave to the party. He leaves them in a much worst position. The states are decimated. They have lost control of the House and the Senate. The governorships are decimated. So yeah, maybe he is obviously a gifted candidate. He did win the election twice by substantial margins. But his legacy as a politician is a bit muddy by all that.”

Really Sam Stein? President Obama is a Democrat who won two consecutive elections with over 51% of the popular vote, a feat not accomplished since FDR. Sam Stein is old enough to remember that Obama circumvented the old and inept Democratic Party operations and launched his own high-tech operations. He led by example. But you cannot force the mule to drink.

Democrats fight like weaklings. How many Democrats killed the public option in Obamacare which would have made it somewhat better but with a toe hole towards a single-payer system? How many Democrats ran away from Obama in 2010 instead of defending him for the middle-class centric policies he passed? Why were they defensive instead of attacking Republican politicians with deservedly reciprocal vile language illustrating that it was the President and Democrats fighting for them?

When the president got in the field to fight, he won with a Democratic narrative. Even Hillary Clinton won the popular vote with a Democratic narrative. Timid Democrats lose. Hillary Clinton could have been more aggressive, but she had to fight headwinds she did not weather well.

A Supreme Court justice was stolen from Democrats. Where is the constant fight? Where is the constant fight for voter suppression? Where is the constant fight for regressive taxes? As Obama said, you must be in the communities. I could go on and on. People want fighters.

Don’t blame Obama for the decimation of the Democratic Party. Blame a Democratic Party that is old in its ways, timid, and not inspiring even though its platform is that which most Americans want.
