It will require much more than just protests to thwart the sea of social evils, economic disruptions, and financial thievery. It is wonderful that fellow Americans are not just sitting back as they interrupt business as usual in the Senate.
Jeff Sessions Attorney General Hearing disrupted
Protesters launched what seemed to be an orchestrated disruption in the chambers during the Jeff Sessions hearing for his appointment as Attorney General. Early on into the hearings, several protestors interrupted both Sessions and Senator Susan Collins.
A Code Pink activist interrupted Senator Collins’ presentation raised a banner that read “SUPPORT CIVIL RIGHTS STOP SESSION” and screamed, “His voting record is evil.”
Soon after the hearings were again interrupted during Session’s introductory comments. A man stood up and shouted “No Trump. No KKK. No Fascist USA. Sessions is a racist. … People should flood the streets of DC.”
As the hearings continued, the protests continued. Fascism seemed to be one of the themes coming up over and over again. Lindsey Graham made a coy statement as he joked that if nothing else, the room is getting cleared out.
