You know it would not be long before Democrats started finding a good use for Trump’s lies. These hearings should be used to do just that as light has a tendency of being a fairly good disinfectant.
Trump inaugural attendance
Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) used his time questioning Trump’s OMB director nominee to force him to break from Trump’s lies about inauguration numbers.
Merkley placed a picture showing Obama’s inauguration vs. Donald’s inauguration. Merkley hung the picture. He then asked the OMB finalist to specify which crowd was larger, Obama’s crowd or the Donald’s crowed. The nominee answered it correctly.
“The reason I am raising this is because budgets often contain buried deceptions,” said Merkley. “This is an example where the President’s team, on something very simple and straightforward, wants to embrace a fantasy rather than a reality.”
Later on, Merkley asked the OMB nominee if he was willing to challenge the Donald if he ever asked him to tell a lie. The nominee was noncommittal with his answer.
This nonresponse should strike fear in the psyche of every American as it means that the President will not get checked by his entourage, his cabinet, his praise-Trump team. We are in fact, in strange times.
