Transportation Secretary shows Trump is ready to bilk every American with a smile (VIDEO)

March 7, 2017 By Egberto Willies

Watch Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao with the help of Sean Hannity tell Americans Trump’s infrastructure plan is intent on ripping off Americans for the benefit of a few investors.

Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao describing the pilfer

The Right Wing is successful because even as they hurt their constituents, they are assertive in spreading their poison. The Transportation Secretary is on point.

New Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao appeared on Sean Hannity’s TV show to promote Trump’s Infrastructure idea. She did it with a smile even as between her lines, she showed an affinity for the foreign and domestic investor class. She had a slip of the tongue early in her diatribe.

“Public/Private Partnerships are a very important part,”  Chao said. “of a new way of financing our roads and bridges.”

Sean Hannity then chimed in for clarification.

“Explain how that works, though,” Hannity asked.

It was there that Chao had a Freudian slip.

“So, basically, we allow foreign inv—uh, we allow different kinds of money, private sector money to come into the United States—I’m not saying foreign—to come and fund, let’s say a bridge or a road.”

But it goes further. Chao made it clear that the pilfer is not restricted to roads and bridges.

“The President’s Initiative on Infrastructure will include probably energy, water broadband,” Chao said. “So it is not just roads and bridges.”

In other words, all the services provided by the public sector in some form will be privatized if Trump gets his way.

After Chao had gone on and on promoting the privatization of our infrastructure, Hannity chimed in and pointed out that privatization of our infrastructure will be a transfer of wealth from the average citizens to the wealthy few. He did not use those words but …

“If I am hearing you properly,” Hannity said. “Maybe what you are saying that for example if a company were to rebuild a road, they might get their investment back by say having a toll on that road. And this way the taxpayers don’t pay a penny, they make a profit. It is a win, win?

Chao replied in the affirmative and had an interesting statement that illustrates she is devoid of the understanding of the role of government.

“The Federal Government cannot and should not be the only source of funding,” Chao said.

Roads, bridges, and other structures, in fact, should be built with taxpayer dollars. That is how we the people take ownership if only temporarily of these spaces.

It is a fallacy to believe that privatization of our public works is a tax cut. It is not. When the government builds a road, it is done from taxpayer dollars directly or indirectly. There are no further charges for anyone to jump on that road. If that same road is built by a private company, that organization, and its investors profit from the tolls. Your lowered taxes are likely dwarfed by the increased cost of driving. It is a giveaway to a private investor.
