Indivisible TX-02 Official meeting with Congressman Ted Poe’s Staff (VIDEO)

March 8, 2017 By Egberto Willies

Indivisible TX-02 called many times to get an appointment with Congressman Ted Poe and was unable to. A few days ago, several of us simply walked into his office and requested an appointment in person. We had that appointment today.

Indivisible TX-02 visits Congressman Ted Poe’s Office Staff

Five of us sat down with two of Congressman Poe’s senior staff. We discussed the Affordable Care Act repeal, Russia, The Wall, and immigration. Our team was very well prepared with notes, corroborating data, and research that we left with his staff.

Patricia Day Gallini, a very hardworking Indivisible TX-02 member and a member of many other groups engaging the body politic, expressed her dismay with the Trump administration wasting taxpayer dollars on building a wall on our southern border. She said the monies could be better spent on things more important to the American citizens.

Cindi Hendrickson, the very hard working and engaged leader of Indivisible TX-02, presented several pages of information with crumbs that indicated a Trump campaign connection with Russia. She demanded that Ted Poe support an independent prosecutor. She gave them corroborating information detailing why Trump’s actions required an independent prosecutor. Hendrickson pointed out that her dad, a conservative military man would be unhappy with the Republican Party’s neglect on the Russian issue.

George Stuart Tallichet pointed out that Trump’s xenophobic behavior had fascist undertones. He provided Poe’s staff data showing that immigrants have a lower crime rate than the general population. He excoriated Trump’s creation of VOICE (Victims of Immigrant Crime Engagement) and his demonization of minorities. His request to Poe was to not stand idle as his party marginalize others, lend support to sensible immigration, and to take a firm stand on not wasting taxpayer dollars on bigotry/hate based goals.

I detailed my personal story as a business owner with a wife with a preexisting condition, Lupus, who benefitted from Obamacare after having her in a high-risk pool for years. I detailed the differences between Obamacare and Trumpcare explaining how detrimental Trumpcare would be. More importantly, I made it clear that Indivisible will be mobilizing to first educate his constituents then lead them to action (read vote). I gave them an article I wrote exposing “government takeover of health care” as a lie.

Ted Poe’s staff was gracious and respectful. They took notes continuously as we spoke. I hope it gets transcribed appropriately to the Congressman. Ted Poe used to be a pragmatic Republican before he got absorbed into the alternate state of reality in which he now lives as a member of the TEA Party coalition. My hunch is that like many politicians, he is malleable and will jump off the TEA Party bandwagon when they become completely ineffective. Their days are numbered.

These times are serious. We elected an infantile narcissist to run our country.  Paul Ryan and his cohort are using a neophyte’s signature hand to sign bills he does not understand into law. In the process, he won’t only hurt those that elected him but most of the nation. Every American must let their representatives know they won’t take it silently. If you do not know your representatives, find them here.
