Her disastrous insurance cancer story should give Obamacare repeal advocates pause (VIDEO)

This woman’s personal story about her expensive and useless insurance policy before Obamacare safeguards, almost got her killed when she got a severe case of cancer.

Her pre-Obamacare insurance cancer story

Before jumping on the Obamacare ‘repeal and replace’ bandwagon, everyone should listen to this woman’s story which will become a reality again under Trumpcare. Politics Done Right‘s topic this week was “Stop the immorality; Health Insurance is not a product” which received many passionate callers.

The call from the Texas woman touched me. The caller recounted her pre-Obamacare experience with her individual health insurance policy. She is self-employed and did all the right things. She purchased health insurance that cost her $350 per month. After about five years of paying for her policy, she got cancer.

The caller attempted to get treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, a well-known cancer center. They informed her that her health insurance policy was not worth the paper it was written on. She then attempted to get covered by the then Texas High-Risk pool and was informed that she would have to wait a year before her preexisting condition would get treatment. She said she would have been dead had she had to wait. A loophole allowed her to get the insurance since she was continuously covered by a fully comprehensive policy before.

The caller wants Americans to understand that these days are not all that far in our past. That is why she called.

Texas is a state where people don’t vote in high numbers. Said behavior has put Texas under full Republican control. In the process, the Republican refusal to accept the Medicaid Expansion to the Affordable Care Act caused the deaths of thousands of Texans. Worse, the first three years would have cost the state nothing and going forward just 10% of the actual cost. It is fiscally irresponsible that Texans are already paying the taxes for that expansion yet they get nothing for it while over one million Texans are uninsured.

Call your Senators and Congressional Representatives every day and let them know you do not want the Affordable Care Act repealed. If you do not know how to get in touch with them, click here.
