Supreme Court Nominee Gorsuch was taken by surprise by Senator Sasse’s wife’s question about peeing.
Senator Sasse causes Senate Hearing to explode in laughter
Senator Sass’ wife may get back at him for exposing the tweet she sent him that caused the Supreme Court Nominee hearing to erupt.
“My wife also sent me a text a little bit ago that I am sure she didn’t expect me to read it but,” Senator Sasse said. “How in the world is Gorsuch able to go so many hours at a time without peeing,” Senator Sasse’s wife asked via a tweet?”
The entire Senate Hearing room exploded into laughter.
“I won’t make you answer, but the SCOTUS bladder is something the whole country stands in awe of,” Sasse said. “You are over half way through your eleven hours. So congratulations. Judge, let’s do ‘biography’ for just a second. You are a father. Remind me the age of your children.”
“Boy, I don’t even know what to say now,” a blushing Gorsuch responded. “You really caught me off guard Senator Sasse.”
Yes, this was a hilarious and human moment. But this is serious. I think Supreme Court Nominee is qualified for the job. He does not share the liberal views of most Americans, but he is the President’s pick. Absent what occurred with President Obama’s nominee Merrick Garlan, I think Democrats should have likely allowed his nomination to go through.
To be clear, the Republicans stole this seat. To justify it they like using Senator Biden’s statement that a Supreme Court nominee should not occur during an election. The argument does not hold. Biden was one voice, and it was never acted upon. The Republicans did.
Every Democrat must vote no on Neil Gorsuch. He must not get the 60 votes. If Republicans choose to go nuclear, so be it. They would do so anyway when they needed to. The country is liberalizing, and they will pay the price going forward in two, four, eight years, and beyond.
