Kevin Brady’s office was given an invitation delivered in person last week. At that time he had not announced any town halls. His surprise controlled tele-town hall Monday evening was not sufficient to address the concerns of his constituents. They had a Kevin Brady Town Hall in absentia on April 19th, 2017.
Key issues we would like answers about:
* The ACA and AHCA which he participated in authoring
* Why Representative Brady has not obtained Trump’s taxes – he has the legal authority to do so because he is the Chair of the Ways and Means Committee: uscode.house.gov Title 26 section 6103(f)(1)
Many spoke at the Town Hall, some with gut-wrenching stories.

Following is the letter sent to Brady.
OPEN LETTER TO OUR DISTRICT 8 CONSTITUENTS, NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS:
You are invited to a town hall on Wednesday April 19 from 6-9 pm in the Activity Center at Candy Cane Park in Conroe. It has been organized by a small group of your neighbors and friends to provide a forum for discussion with our Congressional Representative Kevin Brady.
April 7-24 is the “District Work Period” on the Congressional Calendar – a week for Congressmen/women to visit their districts and get input as well as to share their perspective on issues of interest. Constituent input is a priority for elected officials, however they are busy and planning such events do take staff time. To assist we have organized a Town Hall with invitations out to over 30 networks reaching hundreds of District 8 constituents who are interested in hearing from our elected Representative on this break. We have hand-delivered the invitation to his office inviting him to be our Keynote Speaker and hope that he will recognize this as a priority opportunity to efficiently meet with hundreds of his constituents.
RSVP AT: A Citizen’s Town HallWe have planned this town hall using the guidelines recommended in the Indivisible Guide at IndivisibleGuide.org. They have a resource tab with Recess Resources: https://www.indivisibleguide.com/resources/recess/ which includes specific resources for this town hall. You are encouraged to read this so that you know what to expect.
We ask that you come prepared to be an engaged citizen – exercising the civil behavior that promotes productive discourse. This is a forum to learn and to express views. Respectful but firm is our motto. Our Representative may have long held views, however if we are not present to express additional perspectives and concerns, he will have no reason to change his views.
While we have Rep Brady invited as our Keynote Speaker, we will also have Linda Good speaking on current Legislative Issues. We will reserved much of the time for an open Podium period to allow constituents to ask Brady questions or to state what you would ask your representative if he does not choose to join us. We plan to document the event for his information.
You are welcome to come in groups with coordinated T-shirts identifying your groups. You may also bring posters with your groups identification and contact information. There will be time for networking following the Town Hall. We hope to see a strong turnout as our voice as citizens is an essential element of our democracy.
So that we can assure the venue can accommodate everyone interested, please RSVP at https://actionnetwork.org/events/a-citizens-town-hall-2 An RSVP is not required, however we’d like to accommodate everyone interested.
