It was just a matter of time before Conservatives realize that the Republican Party of yesteryear is now but a dysfunctional amalgamation of selfishness, bad ideas, and hate.
The Republican Party may no longer be salvageable, and Conservatives are starting to bolt, currently in drips, but maybe a gusher soon. It was not long ago that George Will left the party as well. He said then,
“I joined it because I was a conservative, and I leave it for the same reason: I’m a conservative,” George Will said. “The long and the short of it is, as Ronald Reagan said when he changed his registration, ‘I did not leave the Democratic Party; the Democratic Party left me.’ ”
Joe Scarborough appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He mentioned many of the ills of the Republican Party including its racism and inability to self-correct.
“Time and time again they turned the other way,” Scarborough said about the GOP’s inability to call out Trump. “And they are doing the same thing now. And it is actually disgusting. And you have to ask yourself. What exactly is the Republican Party willing to do? How far are they willing to go? How much of this country and our values are you willing to sell out?”

“But aren’t you a Republican,” Colbert asked.
“I am a Republican,” Scarborough replied. “But I am not going to be a Republican anymore. I’ve got to become an Independent.”
The audience erupted in applause.
Having an opposition party is important. Having an intransigent party isn’t. The current state of a declining middle-class can be directly attributable to policies implemented by Right Wing politicians. Corrective measures to bad policies supported by both Establishment Democrats and Republicans continue to be stymied.
As more Republicans bolt a party no longer steeped in reality, the opportunity will return to effect policies that support working Americans. High profile personalities may give many others the cover they need.

There were a few that did not forget some of Joe’s sins as he enabled Trump.

Let’s think country first. Let the past be bygones. Let’s welcome all those who choose to see the light.
