Once again straight talking Joy-Ann Reid gets the message right. Democrats will do well to listen to her and develop a narrative that speaks to both the middle-class and the poor.

Joy-Ann Reid‘s messaging and narrative gives the Democrats a running start to connect with not only their base but many voters yearning for someone who is fighting for them.
Joy-Ann Reid reminded the guests on the MSNBC show of the words Chris Matthews spoke at a panel years ago.
“Politics is about where you put the wedge in,” Reid repeated Matthews’ words. “And when you put the wedge in between the middle-class and the poor so that the middle-class identify with the rich, Republicans win. You put that wedge in between the rich and the middle-class so that the middle-class identify with the people below them, Democrats win. That tax bill that is going to give an average of eighteen bucks a week to people making under $75,000 a year versus the $15 million Donald Trump will get; the fact is the messaging on that tax bill, the reason it is so unpopular, the reason that two-thirds of people hate it and only like a quarter of people kind of like it, is because it is a giveaway to the very rich; permanent tax cut for corporations, and almost nothing for the average person. That’s why people hate it. Even Democrats, as bad as they are sometimes in politics, can figure out the messaging on that.”
I am not sure if Joy-An Reid’s last sentence above is correct. As Chris Matthews subsequently pointed out, the Establishment Democrats seem to lack the wherewithal to take off the gloves. Reid destroyed all of the Republican shill’s arguments point by point with fact-based passionate words unapologetically. That is the way it must be done.
