Most Americans understood from the beginning that Donald Trump is a con man. That is why the majority of Americans voted against him. But he has a core set of supporters that are not yet convinced. If this new utterance from Trump to his wealthy friends doesn’t do it, nothing will.
Trump is spending time at his Mar-a-Lago resort with many of his wealthy friends. One can only imagine the fanfare he received given the windfall they had from the Republican tax cut scam.
Remember what Donald Trump told his supporters?
President Trump on Wednesday repeated his claim that the GOP’s efforts to overhaul the nation’s tax code will not benefit him personally, saying that his finances would actually take a hit under the proposal.
“It’s going to cost me a fortune, this thing. Believe me,” he said at a tax-reform speech in Missouri. “This is not good for me. Me, it’s not so — I have some very wealthy friends. Not so happy with me, but that’s okay.”
“You know, I keep hearing [Sen. Charles] Schumer [saying] ‘this is for the wealthy.’ Well, if it is, my friends don’t know about it,” Trump said, referring to the Democratic leader from New York.
Trump later called tax reform a “higher calling.”
Well, he had a different story at his, resort for the rich, Mar-a-lago Saturday night. It turns out his wealthy friends need not be concerned. After according to CBS News he made comments to his friends that should make them very happy.
President Trump kicked off his holiday weekend at Mar-a-Lago Friday night at a dinner where he told friends, “You all just got a lot richer,” referencing the sweeping tax overhaul he signed into law hours earlier. Mr. Trump directed those comments to friends dining nearby at the exclusive club — including to two friends at a table near the president’s who described the remark to CBS News — as he began his final days of his first year in office in what has become known as the “Winter White House.”
Trump supporters, are you watching? Are you listening? Are you ready to join the team that “really” cares about people like you?
