Democrats vs Trump = Foreman vs Ali, It didn’t end well for Foreman

March 9, 2018 By Egberto Willies

We should all be disgusted with what is occurring with Donald Trump, the media, and the opposition party, the Democrats. What we are watching is the destruction of what should be a Progressive Narrative in action by a million scandals.

What are the Democrats and the media doing?

It is clear that Republican’s total control of government has been a colossal failure for all but the wealthy. Democrats are unable to make the case. Why? — Because they are allowing Trump to use reality TV tactics to drive the news cycle and what people hear and see. Republicans either sit back and hide or attack Democrats where they find a small opening. The media hyperventilates on one or two subjects as if they cannot walk and chew gum at the same time. And Democrats follow along and make Trump and his scandals the issue.

For those expecting a Blue Wave which I am still wavering on, especially after Texas, we must stop getting played by both Trump and the media. The news sounded great. Democrats dominated the Texas early vote in the primaries. Then came election day. For all practical purposes, Texas reverted to form. Texas has a voting problem in which the voting population looks nothing like the state’s total population. Democrats need to activate the entire base instead of just the ones that are mostly still engaged.

Throughout the country, other states, likely replicate Texas. Enough Progressives are not coming out to vote. Why? They probably continue to believe that they won’t make a difference. You see, they see Democrats and the media concentrating on Trump scandal after scandal. These are issues that while they must be examined and even mitigated, have little impact on the daily lives of struggling Americans. They would just rather stay home. They don’t hear Dems or Progressives en masse telling them that electing them will make a difference because they will do specific things, they will pass particular policies.

Democrats and Progressives need to be specific in stating how they will make lives better.

  • Student debt will be forgiven under certain circumstances.
  • True Universal healthcare if elected, abolishing the filibuster if necessary.
  • A true child care program for working families.
  • And so on.

Then tell Americans the truth. These points can be attained by having the proper tax policies. In the process, teach a bit of Economics 101 to mitigate the resulting Republican onslaught.

For those old enough to remember the Foreman vs. Ali fight; right now Dems are fighting like George Foreman. They are throwing a lot of punches which are landing but not doing any substantial damage. Ali, Trump & the Republicans, dictate the match even as they absorb blows. Democrats may think they are winning, but right when it counts, they get knocked out. Democrats better beware.
