Kellyanne Conway got into a pretty contentious catfight with CNN’s Dana Bash over Conway’s husband tweet. It was clear that Dana Bash was not going to let double-talking Conway spin the question into a faux sexism debate.

Kellyanne Conway bested by a calm Dana Bash in a one-sided catfight on CNN

Dana Bash did not allow Kellyanne Conway to convert a legitimate debate into one that implied the host was somehow sexist for the question.

It turns out that Conway’s husband sent out tweets critical of Donald Trump. In one tweet responding to one where the commenter complained about Trump’s reliability given his inability to not contradict himself or his proteges, Conway’s husband reacted sarcastically with, “So true. It’s absurd. Which is why people are banging down the doors to be his comm director.”

Kellyanne Conway took offense when Bash asked her about her husband’s tweet.

“What is up with your husband’s tweets?”

It seems Conway was ready to twist the question.

“It’s fascinating to me that CNN would go there, but it’s very good for the whole world to have just witnessed that it’s now fair game… how people’s spouses and significant others may differ with them,” Conway snapped back. “That should really be fun.”

She intended to play the victim of sexism.

“They have seen a double standard for their mother for two years,” Kellyanne interjected as the one-sided catfight continued.”

When Dana Bash made it clear it wasn’t about gender, Conway backtracked as she realized Bash was going to call her on it with proof. –and that she did when she brought up the President’s attack on McCabe’s wife.

Conway continued in her monotonic spinning to fill the time left for the interview. But it was already clear from her reaction that Bash had gotten to her. More importantly, that the spouse of the president’s confidant is tweeting against him speaks volumes.

Dana Bash maintained her calm and professionalism. She did not let Kellyanne Conway get a rise at all. I’ve not always been a fan of Dana Bash’s work because she is decidedly hard on Democrats and consistently give Republicans a pass. This time even though somewhat deferential, she stuck to her guns,
