Sorry Corporate Media, Progressives are winning all over America

August 15, 2018 By Egberto Willies

The supposedly “Liberal” media aka Corporate Media have been spinning the tale that the Progressive movement has stalled. They want to promote the false notion that America is a Center-Right country. You see, that is what the Plutocracy needs to maintain their economic fraud on Americans.

Progressives are going nowhere but up. They won’t win all their races but they sure have all the winning politicians sounding like Berniecrats. While in New Orleans for Netroots Nation 2018, even Center-Right Democrat Tim Ryan (D-OH) sounded like a true Progressive with his full-throated support for Single-Payer Medicare for All.

America is not a Center-Right or Center-Left country, but a Progressive country. And we now have great spokespeople like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez articulating the Progressive message to near perfection.

Progressives did very well recently again in the primaries in Minnesota, Vermont, and other states. Daily Kos’ SemDem’s article “This is the face of the progressive movement. The face of America. And today, the face of victory!” extorts it clearly.

It’s true that this has been Trump’s ugly America, with all the racism, misogyny, hatred, fear, and self-loathing that comes with it. Yet a new generation is leading the charge for a better America, one that represents our diversity, tolerance, strength, and celebration of unity. Despicable people who only know how to belittle and degrade are being taken on by those who inspire: the Parkland students, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sharice Davids, and now…. Ilhan Omar. This is the new face of America, and I like it.

Yes. this is our time. This is America’s time. This is how the poor and middle-class rise to make America the country that it must be. Progressives must remember to speak to them. Let them know what is in it for them. Articulate the issues that touch us all and the solutions we intend to implement. We detailed this in the article “The five issues Democrats and Progressives must push to win 2018 midterms” stating the following.

Progressives must define their opponents first so that it is them who are on the defensive. Then, tell poor and middle-class America in a district-specific manner, what is in it for them. It must be clear to them what they expect out of voting for Democrats.

  • Democrats will fix the health care issue once and for all with a single-payer Medicare for All system.
  • Democrats will provide student loan relief.
  • Democrats will provide need-based subsidized child care for anyone who wants to work.
  • Democrats will decriminalize marijuana and treat drug use as the disease that it is.
  • Democrats will make the criminal justice system live up to the “Justice is Blind” motto.

Those five bullet points expressed in different terms will work in every district in America. It appeals to millennials, people of color, all working class people, parents, and every demographic in between. Most importantly these bullet points afford Americans a path to self-sufficiency It frees them from aberrations in the economy that stunts innovation, the inability to start one’s business, and the dependency and the enslavement to the corporation.  One would hope that every Democrat who gets on Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, HLN, or any other network would steer every topic to these bullet points.

Now let’s get busy and right (Left) this country.

Unfortunately, in recent primary elections, every candidate Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez endorsed lost by wide margins. On the other hand, Trump’s pick won but only slightly, so there is hope.
