HUGE UPSET: Progressive Pressley beats Democratic Establishment’s Capuano (D-MA7)

September 4, 2018 By Egberto Willies

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

More and more the mainstream media’s hyperventilation when a few Progressives lost to Democratic Establishment candidates a few weeks ago shows their lack of depth. Today, another well established with 20 years service in the House goes down.

Ayanna Pressley just won one of the most shocking Democratic primary upsets of the year, unseating Democratic Congressman Mike Capuano in Massachusetts’ 7th Congressional District.

Democracy for America (DFA) released the following statement.

“Ayanna Pressley’s remarkable victory tonight is a testament to the strength of the grassroots movement she built, and an important reflection of the generational, multiracial inclusive populist transformation that’s happening in the Democratic Party right now all across the country.

“A fearless fighter for Boston’s Black, brown, and white working families, Ayanna Pressley will be a champion for progressive priorities like Medicare for All and criminal justice reform in Congress. She’ll make history as the first Black woman to represent Massachusetts in House, but she’ll also bring a range of life experiences — as a sexual assault survivor and the daughter of an incarcerated parent — that are desperately needed in our halls of power.

“With so much at stake in the era of Trump, tonight’s results make clear what Ayanna Pressley knew when she boldly launched her campaign against a ten-term incumbent: Change in the country and Congress can’t wait. We were honored to stand with Ayanna Pressley in her gutsy, history-making primary campaign, and we look forward to fighting alongside her as she continues working to ensure the voices of all Bay Staters are represented in Washington.” — Jim Dean, Chair, Democracy for America

This is similar to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez‘s win a few months ago. She beat Joe Crowley (D-NY14).

The reality is the following.

The supposedly “Liberal” media aka Corporate Media have been spinning the tale that the Progressive movement has stalled. They want to promote the false notion that America is a Center-Right country. You see, that is what the Plutocracy needs to maintain their economic fraud on Americans.

Progressives are going nowhere but up. They won’t win all their races but they sure have all the winning politicians sounding like Berniecrats. While in New Orleans for Netroots Nation 2018, even Center-Right Democrat Tim Ryan (D-OH) sounded like a true Progressive with his full-throated support for Single-Payer Medicare for All.

America is not a Center-Right or Center-Left country, but a Progressive country. And we now have great spokespeople like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez articulating the Progressive message to near perfection.

Stay tuned. There is much more to come.
