This week puts a lot into perspective. One can use tribulations to curl up in a ball or to move forward. My DNA only allows the latter.
First, I am blessed to have had the opportunity to have been tutored by the vast knowledge base that aggregated in the United States of America. Anyone who believes in individualism or that somehow they made it solely on their inane intellect or wherewithal is an empty soul devoid of rational thinking. It is what corporations teach to maintain control by preventing our collective actions to prevail which would render them just another entity in a democratic state instead of the fascist existence they’ve become.
There are times when things seem out of focus or too chaotic to many who then run to the comfort of the status quo. That is the toughest battle those of us working for change face day in and day out not in ourselves but from loved ones, family, and friends.
I have been hosting Politics Done Right (PDR) for some time, first as an internet radio program on the Coffee Party Network. Again I was blessed when the powers at KPFT 90.1 FM liked my proposal to integrate PDR with social media at that wonderful station and gave me the opportunity to take my internet-based program to the airwaves as well. Last year PDR turned into a daily show kinks and all.
This week could have been the last straw. I cannot go into details, but suffice it to say that being pulled in many directions in the Progressive Professional space (some dangerously close to undoing a gem), waking up to a flooded house after the storm, and equipment malfunction throughout the week that affected every remote interview, one would be forgiven for throwing one’s hands up in the air and just ask why. I never thought I would ever say this, but I find writing software in machine code, assembly language, C/C++, VB, PLM, and all the other languages I coded in much easier and orders of magnitude more profitable without the headaches.
But I digress to the first paragraph. It is not in my DNA to take my eyes off of the ball. But it is in my nature to rant when I think appropriate.
It is 1:08 AM as I write this. I just configured and tested a new computer that is more capable of handling the Broadcasting Software I use for PDR. It almost killed my laptop and last week one app too many made it too unstable for broadcasting. It needed a dedicated machine.
I timed everything to go down this weekend so I would be back up on Monday. Well known Houston activist Neil Aquino who continues his weekly “engagement” with Senator Cornyn (R-TX) will be my first and willing guinea-pig in our Kingwood studio since making all the changes this weekend.
I was a sound engineer, lighting engineer, software engineer, and technician all at once this weekend with palpable sleep deprivation. The funniest part is after failing to remove an echo for weeks, I decided to map out the entire integration of the phone system, with the broadcast system, and local inputs. It turns out all the connections were correct. The damn soundcard was not working as expected. It was acting as a relay that prevented the isolation of two paths. Shame on me for not assuming the hardware could be defective.
Well, I turned an old adapter into a temporary sound card until Amazon comes through. Hey, the show goes on and we are live tomorrow at 3:00 PM.
Here is the constantly improving studio. Thank you, Bobby Rodrigo, for being my remote guinea pig on the East Coast as late as it was. Be sure to check out his website at I Take Liberty with my Coffee.

There is still a lot of work to be done. I put together a 10-point plan I intend to uphold for 2019. It has been crazy on what would have otherwise been a stressful week. Instead, I centered on the goal, on that dim light brightening ever so slowly at the very far end of the tunnel. It is too important to not take one’s eyes off the ball. That is what “they,” the ones many are willfully ignorant to, want.
I need a producer/booker. I also need an additional social media promoter. Check out our Instagram IGTV channel. I cannot afford to pay any cash right now but I can build and host a website as a token. And for those who see the need and value of this work I ask that you either subscribe to our program or contribute. Think of it as buying a friend a coffee every so often with the added benefit that that friend is providing a priceless service.
