A Caller to Politics Done Right (PDR): How do I handle being called a Socialist? Here is how!

March 20, 2019 By Egberto Willies

*

A caller to Politics Done Right asked for some advice. She wanted to know how to handle Republicans calling her a Socialist. She was very concerned until I elaborated the technique that works every time somebody attempted to brand me with the Socialist word as a pejorative.

It was not difficult to hear the disgust in the caller’s voice. After the call, she was more than happy to continue doing what Progressives must do.

Called a Socialist. Here’s what to do.

I told the caller that she did not need to make the conversation about the word Socialist but about the things, Progressives will do to make their lives better. I pointed out that it is a tough battle by reminding her that even the so-called Liberal media is against many of the policies we stand for to make lives improve people’s well-being. After all, even Chuck Todd is subliminally disparaging Progressives who support the Democratic Socialist tenets.

We discussed this topic recently on Tamara for Georgia. I subsequently wrote in the blog post for that show the following.

While the GOP is intent on scaring Americans into the fallacy that electing Democrats would effectively be ceding our “great economy” to one that looks like Cuba and Venezuela. Ironically, the U.S. has been instrumental in ensuring those economies get a lot of help in faltering. One must ask why don’t they use Sweden, Norway, or Denmark as the template.

The reason is clear. If Americans dug too deeply into those countries and studied their economies, it would make their scare tactics ineffective. Americans would see an effective integration of their safety nets. That lends itself to the real development of free enterprise and upward mobility as opposed to complete unabated corporate control and indentured servitude that is starting to define America.

Yes. We must be prepared. Truth, decency, and morality is on our side.

You can also simply suggest to them that if they REALLY don’t want to have anything to do with socialism, whenever they want to go somewhere they should NEVER drive on one of our (socialist) Interstate Highways, and that if their house is being broken into by bad people they should NEVER call (socialist) 911 and ask for the (socialist) police to come help you out, and if their house is on fire they should NEVER call (socialist) 911 and ask to have the (socialist) fire department come to put the fire out – etc. etc. etc. Most people have absolutely no idea how much socialism already exists in their daily lives that they really like!
