Haters will hate. They will try to call out R
Many continue to wonder why this 29-year-old woman is getting attacked from the Political Establishment from the Left and Right. Why would a purportedly Progressive Senator use Right Wing talking points to attack one of the signature parts of the Green New Deal? It is because the Green New Deal is practical, inclusive, and ensures that the spoils are available to all as opposed to the controlling few. Most importantly, in Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez they have not only a competent and effective spokesperson, but one who understands the relevance of the resolution, the past ills, why, and how the Green New Deal solves them.
The Right is trying to portray Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as dumb. I interviewed her a few months before she won her primary election. I told her then she would win her primary. I found her fast thinking, knowledgeable, and kind. The caricature they are trying to make of her is just that.
Chris Hayes interviewed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who gave a stellar performance illustrating her knowledge of the Green New Deal and much more. The Q&A that MSNBC did not air is worth a watch. It further demonstrates that if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lives up to her rhetoric along with the other justice Democrats, and subsequent ones who will purge those who do not represent the will of their districts, change will come.
The four snippets from the show I discuss in this post is mostly to illustrate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez political savvy as well as her knowledge on the issues given her ability to handle some of the impromptu misdirections. I missed one, however, where she mentioned that one of the aspects of the Green New Deal could be implemented right away by funding coal miners’ pensions in West Virginia. It is a personalization that ensures we inform Americans who don’t realize it, that they are stakeholders as well.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shows why she is a force
The four snippets I discuss below are politically crucial for the reasons I explain in the video. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez displayed her political savvy.
- How did she handle the word socialism trope? Ironically, I gave a similar response to one of my Politics Done Right listeners recently.
- When a Conservative panelist attempted to equate Progressives to a Left-Wing version of the Tea Party, she was ready to provide the distinction and then morphed it into our movement being people-based and the Right and Establishment side being corporate-based.
- When Chris Hayes showed Ocasio-Cortez the hyperventilation of the leaders and pundits of the GOP and the Right, she summarily dismissed them in a manner that pointed out the shallowness of their thought process.
- And lastly, when a likely Progressive heckler insulted the Conservative panelist, she immediately called him out and contrasted herself with Donald Trump, one of the only times they mentioned him.
I enjoyed watching the entire program as well as the extras online. It is great listening to a politician who can speak because no one owns them. They are accountable to the people.
