On the weekly segment where I participate on a segment on the Tamara for Georgia program with Tamara Shealey, Robby L. Caban, and David Slavin, we discussed the Mueller Report and what it means to most Americans, the middle-class and the poor. It means much less than its legal or moral severity. One hopes politicians will understand how to navigate that reality.
Mueller Report a yawn to many?
It is clear there is no groundswell from Americans to impeach the president. The president’s perceived legal wrongdoings to the public are at best lukewarm.
The panel in the accompanying video was in agreement that the hope of Democrats has not materialized. I believe the President colluded with Russia, that he obstructed justice, and that he is a corrupt businessman. Yes, Congress can walk and chew gum at the same time. However, we should better spend our time on a strategy designed to use the Mueller Report as a scalpel to dethrone Trump.
I am not discounting the fact that the Mueller Report shows a very corrupt presidency. The Trump administration along with a complicit media has so successfully politicized the entire process that impeachment would likely enrage Trump’s base irrespective of any evidence the Congress presented.
I recently wrote the blog post titled “Here is why we must forget impeachment and move on even as Mueller Report is terrible news for Trump” that is probative. It ended with the following paragraphs.
The report is filled with an amalgamation of lies, bad deeds, skirting the law, and much worse. But here is the thing. Most Americans have pretty much accepted that we have a corrupt president. Worse, they think corruption is systemic. As such, do not expect Americans to change their opinions or their vote because we have a mafia boss as president. If that mafia boss gives them the semblance of prosperity or at least not falling over the cliff, then they adapt.
An impeachment that does not result in the removal of the president plays into the hands of Trump. He will use it as a clarion call to his base, they are trying to undo your vote, he will say.
It is best to beat Trump at the ballot box using each bad-deed item in the Mueller Report as scalpel blade. Show that Trump’s policies directly hurt his supporters on a personal level and all his corruption was to enrich himself and other inhabitants of the swamp he grew.
This stance is almost certain to make many Democrats and Progressives very upset. Hell, it upsets me. However, it is not about us. It is about how we get our people elected so that we can make systemic change in all of our communities. We must remember that Trump as a civilian can be prosecuted for his wrongdoings. As a President, Trump is a clear and present danger, an existential threat to the United States we all strive for now.

Gary Belschner says
Pathetic weak knee position covered in the perception that we, as a country, are to morally numb to deal with a corrupt politician. The premise that we do not care suggests that as a country we too are morally corrupt. I reject this and again judge Egberto Willies as lacking.

For me it is not about how it is done but that it is done. We work within the country’s reality, not our own. As such I choose to suggest a navigation I think would be more successful. Now I could be wrong and the country makes a quick change to caring, but we better have options lest we slide further. The purity vote against Hillary gave us Trump. We better be careful as we are not playing with purists but with pathogens.
