Torry Mercer: “Corporatocracy, AKA Egberto’s Blues”

May 17, 2019 By GuestWriter

Sorry, there was a YouTube error.

Torry Mercer AKA Political Rapper, a regular volunteer at KPFT 90.1 FM, and a prolific political activist have been helping Politics Done Right with fundraising. He said he would have rapped if we met our one-day goal.

Corporatocracy, AKA Egberto’s Blues

by Torry Mercer

Living in a Corporatocracy
Ain’t no fun for you or me
Everything’s plastic, everything sucks
Still we bleed for it with our Bozo bucks

It’s time to say no
It’s time to say bye
Or are you still trying to figure out the reason why?
It’s ‘cause you’ve been a sucker
And while you sit
They treat you like a turkey
And stuff you full of (sh)it

(Sh)it’s on the radio
It’s on the TV
It’s on every billboard on the street you see
It’s in the grocery stores,
And it’s in the banks
But worst of all its in your tanks

We gonna’ be living in a corporate world
Where you and me don’t own no stock
The big rats keep getting fatter
And all you and me gets is punked, cuz

They don’t care for the lower classes
But they are lowest than the lowest muck
But in this hour they’ve got the power
And you just ran out of luck

Where’s your gold?
It’s in their banks
Do what you are told
Do it without thanks
Where’s your soul?
It’s in the ‘frigerator
They’re keeping it on ice
So they can use it later

We gonna’ be living in a corporate world
Where you and me don’t own no stock
The big rats keep getting fatter
And all you and me gets is punked
