Thom Hartmann: Essentially the Republicans are being pushed out of the Democratic Party.

I ran into Thom Hartmann at Netroots Nation 2019 as I walked passed the Free Speech TV booth on Radio Row. I told him hi and asked him for a follow-up interview at my Politics Done Right booth on Radio Row as well. He said he was available right then so we walked to my set up and did one.

Thom Hartmann on Politics Done Right at Netroots Nation 2019 in Philly discussing the Democratic Party

“What we’ve seen is that the Democratic Party is being taken back by the Democrats,” Thom Harmann said. “Basically FDR, Democrats, LBJ Democrats without the Vietnam War. Essentially the Republicans are being pushed out of the Democratic Party. You know, the DLC crowd and the new Dem coalition, the caucus that Tim Ryan and those guys are a part of.”

Thom Hartmann pointed out that Tim Ryan has reinvented himself into the more Progressive Sherrod Brown.

“Which is pretty amazing,” Hartmann said.

Thom said it is a good thing that Centrist Democratic politicians are changing their stripes. While it is a good thing, we must be cognizant that these changing politicians should not be trusted until they prove themselves.

We must not trust any politician with their finger in the air testing the wind direction and speed to figure out the direction they are going to take.

Netroots Nation 2019 has turned out to be the largest one to date. Most importantly, it is more diverse and younger. The caliber of activists attending seems more focused and intent on achieving change. This is something we have been hoping for since the inception of the conference. I am confident that the energy at the conference will ensure the realization of a strong 2020 for November 2020.
