Gun-toting Right-Wing guy calls to dispute my views of the U. S. Constitution

Many hold the U.S. Constitution in Biblical regard. I don’t. I am clear that it was a document created and voted on by a very select few men. Larry, my gun-toting Right-Wing caller, called into dispute my take.

He disagrees with my take on the constitution

The constitutional discussion on my show came about because I stated a fact. Donald Trump’s election proved that the Constitution was a democratic failure. Many of my Right-Wing audience took exception to that. They did not like that I pointed out that the Constitution codifies the possibility of minority rule.

One listener said that Democrats wanted to change the rules after losing the election in 2016. He said we should change the Constitution if we don’t like the rules. Of course, changing it is next to impossible since it means lessening the power of small states. The supermajority required to change it is likely unattainable.

I reminded the listener that most “Americans” “did not sign off on the Constitution. After all, women, blacks, natives, and others had no political power or say-so. So, in effect, the founders wrote the document for a select few, a small percentage of rich white men. Most people, whites or others, were excluded.

I got a call from one of my gun-toting Right-Wing constitutionalist listeners, Larry, during my narrative.

“My man, in addition to being an out-and-out communist, you are a psychic,” Larry said. “I am going to compliment you on the fact that you are in the open, and with one thing we forward observers used to love was to see the enemy in the open so we could fire for effect on him and doing my job. You, sir, have openly declared your hostility to the Constitution. And now that that is clear, we can have a discussion about it.”

Ironically, the caller ultimately agreed with me. Then he said I distorted the truth by making my point with the facts stated differently. This call was yet another example of an indoctrination corrosive to critical thinking. The entire discussion was enlightening.

America is not a Democracy. It is not even a real republican Democracy in practice. I pointed out in another article how Trump and his minions intend to use the courts to create permanent minority rule.
