There is no reason to fear Elizabeth Warren will be Hillary Clinton 2.0.

August 18, 2019 By Egberto Willies

Many of my good friends are concerned that Elizabeth Warren or any other woman would suffer the same fate as Hillary Clinton. That would not be bad because she won by 3,000,000 votes. She fell short by 80,000 in places she should have campaigned and won. And I am sure some candidates would not make that mistake.

Let me first tell you that the polls were right. All polls have a margin of error and Hillary came within those even in PA, WI, and MI as I recalled. We knew those places were closing in because of the shenanigans played by Trump’s social media people with lies and misinformation.

That said Trump and his teamed maximized their use of social media that Hillary should have matched but turned down from the Facebook team. There was a degree of arrogance in her team that disregarded those of us who were listening and talking to people all over. I remember getting slaughtered for writing a piece at DailyKos articulating the triangulation Trump was doing in the midwest and elsewhere. They told us we were dumb and not following the science because all the polls led in one direction (Yes, but with a margin of error).

Again, HILLARY WON! The country proved that it can elect a woman even with too many women voting for a misogynist. SHE WON! More people said we will elect a woman in the United States.

Elizabeth Warren unlikely to make the same mistakes

So I feel compelled to write this after listening to many of my boomer friends and their fear Elizabeth Warren will suffer the fate of Hillary Clinton. Short answer, I would be more than happy if she matched Hillary’s performance but I would expect much much better given her humility.

If we are to be upset it should be for two things. For too long we accepted the fallacy that we live in a Democracy, one person one vote. The Electoral College, The Senate, and Gerrymandering makes that a lie. And we should work to change it all. Republicans are using our defective constitution to set up an extended period of minority rule even if we vote them out.

More upsetting is that none of those constitutional defects caused Hillary to lose without a lot of help from her team. A little more humility and effort in Milwaukee, Detroit, and Pittsburg would have given us the first female president even with a system skewed to have the dictates of a few, rule.

Warren or Sanders won’t make that error. It is clear the establishment of our Democratic Party will. Skewing a process from media, the use of Obama Love, to fears based on a false narrative to attempt to elect someone past their prime both mentally and physically makes one wonder if the Party wants us to lose this one for reasons I will not discuss here.

But again, this country will elect a woman because it already has. The question is whether we will continue to listen to those with ulterior motives or finally lookout for those who have the interest of our children at heart.

BTW, I will give this plug where I can and must, as we have a lot of work to do. Check out my new Politics Done Right Store. Hey, doing the work of breaking the false narratives and fear is time-consuming and all-encompassing. WE WILL WIN IF WE TAKE IT. WE WON’T GET IT TIMIDLY BUT GOING IN LETTING FOLKS KNOW WE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
