Economist Dr. Dean Baker validates Elizabeth Warren's response to tax questions on Medicare for All

Economist Dr. Dean Baker provides the definitive take on how one should look at healthcare in the interview in this post. It is clear Medicare for All is the answer and he makes it clear why.

Dean Baker has come to Elizabeth Warren’s defense against those who are accusing her of being evasive or less than honest with her answers to questions attempting to have her say Medicare for All would increase taxes.

I find it amazing the Democratic timidity and the modal of acquiescence to play on Trump’s or the Plutocrats’ terms. Trump sticks to his lies and eventually, he just wears down everyone and they move the mat to what is now acceptable.

I hope Warren keeps her strong and determined stance and expands on it. Her display of strength and ability to not cave, like the signature Democratic signs of timidity, impressed me. Based on the polls, it impressed many who want a candidate not afraid to front her convictions.

I am hoping Warren will use the narrative that Medicare for All lowers taxes, period. Health insurance premiums that are required are a tax. (In fact, it is a more sinister tax since it is one paid to private swindlers.)

We do not need more money in the system since we will remove the swindlers, those purported to perform a service simply to pay a bill. Dr. Baker did not want to get that drastic in his commentary but our mutual disgust was evident.  That is the reality for those who decide to remove their indoctrinated glasses. Only the wealthy will pay more taxes progressively. It is actually the absolute truth if implemented correctly.

For too long the mainstream media has been given a pass for being the patsy of the plutocracy. Many times they ask loaded questions with an intent to mislead and in doing so placate their masters, the pharmaceutical industrial complex, the healthcare industrial complex, the energy industrial complex, and every other monopolistic consortium in between.

Dean Baker says Warren is doing the right thing. She is forcing the media to ask the right questions if they are looking for an answer.

It is imperative that we support every candidate that bucks the system in a manner that supports the citizenry. If a question is intent on misleading, call it out as Elizabeth Warren has with the Medicare for All questions about increased taxes.

Dr. Baker co-founded the Center for Economic And Policy Research (CEPR) in 1999. His areas of research include housing and macroeconomics, intellectual property, Social Security, Medicare, and European labor markets. He is the author of several books on the economy and more. His analyses have appeared in many major publications, including The Atlantic Monthly, the Washington Post, the London Financial Times, and the New York Daily News. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan.

Dean has written several books that are worth reading.
