The powers want us feeling hopeless & helpless – Here is my answer.

January 15, 2020 By Egberto Willies

Many Americans are feeling hopeless and helpless. This is by design. This and chaos allow the plutocracy to function virtually unabated against us all.

No need to feel hopeless

Yesterday I received a call from a fairly new listener to Politics Done Right at KPFT 90.1 FM Houston. He sounded like he was about to throw his hand up in the air and just give up or give in to the state of our everything in America.

When listening to him my heart sank. You see, I know that the chaos that we are seeing right now is manufactured. If we all give in to it, those who benefit from the disorder win and we-the-people suffer.

The caller was grateful that our show is not about ever giving up, but fighting for what we know is right even as many are misled.

“I feel so hopeless sometimes,” the caller said. “Like, no one is really listening. And everybody just wants to argue. And everybody gets caught up in arguing.”

I pointed out to the caller that I am not hopeless. No one should be. As long as this country still has one person one vote, we can change things. What is required, however, is a different form of engagement. We have been trained just to demonize the other side, polarization.

The powers-that-be has selectively created two poles designed to control the minds in both directions. Ironically, those powers are one and in the same. That is why you will see establishment Democrats and establishment Republicans using the same talking points. But at the same time, the different poles are manipulated to choose the particular representative that is satisfactory to the specific pole.

Trump broke that. He was not supposed to win. But notice, while his rhetoric is that of a popularist, he has fallen in line to do the bidings of the plutocracy that harms the entire middle-class and poor. Their extraction of the wealth of us all continues unabatedly. In Trump, they have found a person who makes lying an art form. So as they destroy the environment, rob the treasury, and put out misleading information on employment and more, the lies give a semblance of a president executing for his sect.

Unfortunately, the pushback is not effective because again the powers know that the real solutions (Green New Deal, Medicare for All, tuition-free college, child care) will hinder the gravy train, so they restrict their minions, the centrists who are there to keep the left in check.

We are not helpless or hopeless to solve this problem. Solving this problem requires transformational change that is believable. It is imperative that those who understand this do not cower.

We must use every avenue to live by example and communicate with respect realizing that it isn’t just about facts but the development of trust — not easy but that is what I have pledged to do, hopefully for the rest of my life along with many others who realize we must do this for our kids, the next generation.
